search engine optimization meeting
I am working with Darlene Juliana who owns the Blue Ridge Manor Bed and Breakfast in Cana Virginia. We are going over some search engine strategies and she has fed me a delicious grilled cheese and roasted red pepper sammich with my favorite soup–New England Clam Chowder!
She has created many inbound links from various regional sources. Our main goal now is to get her blogging, facebooking and tweeting often.

cool things….i feel like hot stuff
Maybe it’s my third cup of strong dark coffee. Maybe it’s the head-boppin’ hip hop rap I’ve got playing on my 50 Cent http://pandora.com station. Maybe it’s the four websites I made some headway on yesterday while my mom did me a solid and entertained my child all day. But I am feelin’ GOOD today. And it’s even cloudy outside. Usually rainy dark days send me spiraling into a quagmire of despair.
Yesterday I made some headway on a new project http://withoutperfume.com. You can’t see it now. It has an Under Construction message on it. At first when my client asked me to put up the UC message, I wasn’t sure how I would do that without taking down the WordPress platform and deleting all the design work I had worked so hard on. But I did a search for WordPress plugins and again I was so thrilled to find answers to my needs. There were actually plugins that can display a logo, and email collection and under construction message while I continue to build the site in the background! How about that!
Next I got all the info transferred over from http://trinklemansion.com to the site I am building at http://mitone.com/wptest/. See, Trinkle Mansion wants to continue hosting her own site. At first I didn’t know how I would build it and then transfer it all without losing all my work in the database. Lo and Behold tho, wordpress has an EXPORT SITE feature! How awesome is that? It’s like every need my customers have I am being able to answer and provide just because WordPress is that awesome! So, as soon as TM sees the work, hopefully we’ll be able to transfer everything around.
Then I updated http://terriajudge.com and created her email newsletter and print brochure. This is a regular monthly gig. Made all the easier with WordPress. LOL. Added some more info to http://wholesoulpshycic.com.
Then I designed a better template for http://spookyworldusa.com with some updated graphics. Should be putting that up later today. Have some more work to do on http://pacabella.com. Robin reports much love for her WordPress ecommerce site.
So bottom line….I finished the HOST brochure…coming to a close on some of these recent web gigs. It’s time to place your order for a website! I am also talking with Crossroads here in Galax about hosting a WordPress training seminar….so if you need a website and have been looking for something classy and easy to manage, it’s time to call me before I get too busy again!

Oh! Almost forgot. I have a Social Networking Tip of the Day. You know you need to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. But how much time do you spend posting a message at all three places? Enter http://hootsuite.com. It’s free. You make one post through the HootSuite platform. It posts to all of your Social Networking sites. OMG! AND!! Get this…will see if it works…I also entered my RSS feed from this blog and supposedly it will send an update to all my networks that I have made an update at this site. Now how cool is that?? And if you do want an upgraded version, it’s only $5.99 a month for the upgrade. Two hoots for HootSuite!
heading into the home stretch
I must have reduced myself to utter goofiness for I am now using baseball analogy to summarize my workload. LOL .Anyway, indeed, I am coming to the close of the great big Blue Ridge Host brochure. Putting final tweaks on the map today. Sending proof off for final approval tonight. Then its nose to the grindstone to finish out some of these websites on my plate. I love it! I went for several years not enjoying web dev as much as I did when I first learned how in the late 90′s. But now, man….can’t get enough of WordPress. Woo Hoo!! If you need a website, send me an email! I’ll be able to take on new projects in about 2 weeks. (Can you believe I am booked out for two weeks?! Man sometimes it’s time consuming to be by yourself.)
long time no see
I know, I know…it’s been a while. My laptop crashed on me late last week. Finally got it booted back up and it is still running. Got all my programs reloaded on my new laptop, backups of all my files made…and now I am back working trying to play catch up. Got some great new websites I am working on… http://wholesoulpsychic.com, http://withoutperfume.com, http://alpacabedding.com, http://pacabella.com, http://trinklemansion.com, http://houstonfestgalax.com –just to name a few. Not even created graphics yet!! Eeek. They were all due yesterday!! Plus the HOST brochure still looms. I did get some rack cards finished today, some ads, and some other smaller projects that were taking up space in my head. So tomorrow, it’s focus on graphics and creating the templates for these new WordPress site. I do have help with the Houston Fest project. Eddie Day, a guitar picker who was a friend of Houston’s is volunteering to do the graphics on the website. That will be awesome. SO many people have turned out to volunteer to get Houston Fest going. He sure was a well loved and highly regarded 18 year old young man.

Busy weekend at Trinkle Mansion B&B
Just got back from Wytheville, VA. Met with Patti, who owns the Trinkle Mansion Bed and Breakfast there. We will be converting her existing website from straight HTML to the wordpress platform. She practiced a wordpress post here on my website this morning. Uploaded the picture here and wrote:
“Full house this weekend and just getting started on laundry and readying rooms for tonight’s guests.”
She agreed wordpress is quite an easy backend management solution to her website needs. I’ll teach her how to do lots of other “stuff” so she can make quick updates to her site at any time, but the graphics she has at her existing http://trinklemansion.com can stay about the same. I’ll rearrange a few things and set her site up to look pretty much the same. Exciting stuff getting websites converted to wordpress! So easy to manage!

I am rejoicing today as I am closing in on the finale of the great big Blue Ridge Host brochure development. Was hoping to get to print by end of this week but I should have known better. Always takes longer than I suspect.
Website Design and Devlopment for Rockwood Manor Bed and Breakfast
In other design news, I created an initial design for the Rockwood Manor Bed and Breakfast website yesterday. Still have not heard from Frank, the owner, whether he likes it or not, but I am crossing my fingers cause I think it is just fantastic. And besides, I spent 5 hours creating a flash banner for it!!
Today my dad is taking me to Winston Salem for Father’s Day. How cool is my dad, huh! It’s his day and he and Beverly (step mom) are taking me out! I think he really just wants to take me for a ride in his new truck. It is HUGE HUMONGOUS.
Don’t know if you noticed or not, but I updated the graphics on my website. Now it is just really cool. And so totally matches my business cards.
I am so happy to report I have been designing graphics here in Southwest VA since about 2003. And even in this down economy, seems like my loyal friends come back to me….life is very nice professionally. Although sometimes I wish there was more I could accomplish. Perhaps I will someday.

Working on a new single page website for my new customers at The Cabin in Wild Turkey Hollow. The MacDonalds are a great couple preparing for a fun retirement. George built the cabin himself over the last four years. The rock on the outside walk was taken from an original homestead structure on the property. How cool is that! And this is the first time George ever laid tile and the pattern and artistry are so very unique! The cabin overlooks a pond The MacDonalds built themselves when they first moved to their home twenty years ago. George knows his acreage well and frequently forages for local chefs. I am begging George to take me mushroom hunting and hope I can score such a trip!! The page is not up as I write this, but the link is http://cabininwildturkeyhollow.com and will be live and active by Tuesday afternoon anyway!
