search engine optimization meeting
I am working with Darlene Juliana who owns the Blue Ridge Manor Bed and Breakfast in Cana Virginia. We are going over some search engine strategies and she has fed me a delicious grilled cheese and roasted red pepper sammich with my favorite soup–New England Clam Chowder!
She has created many inbound links from various regional sources. Our main goal now is to get her blogging, facebooking and tweeting often.

heading into the home stretch
I must have reduced myself to utter goofiness for I am now using baseball analogy to summarize my workload. LOL .Anyway, indeed, I am coming to the close of the great big Blue Ridge Host brochure. Putting final tweaks on the map today. Sending proof off for final approval tonight. Then its nose to the grindstone to finish out some of these websites on my plate. I love it! I went for several years not enjoying web dev as much as I did when I first learned how in the late 90′s. But now, man….can’t get enough of WordPress. Woo Hoo!! If you need a website, send me an email! I’ll be able to take on new projects in about 2 weeks. (Can you believe I am booked out for two weeks?! Man sometimes it’s time consuming to be by yourself.)
long time no see
I know, I know…it’s been a while. My laptop crashed on me late last week. Finally got it booted back up and it is still running. Got all my programs reloaded on my new laptop, backups of all my files made…and now I am back working trying to play catch up. Got some great new websites I am working on… http://wholesoulpsychic.com, http://withoutperfume.com, http://alpacabedding.com, http://pacabella.com, http://trinklemansion.com, http://houstonfestgalax.com –just to name a few. Not even created graphics yet!! Eeek. They were all due yesterday!! Plus the HOST brochure still looms. I did get some rack cards finished today, some ads, and some other smaller projects that were taking up space in my head. So tomorrow, it’s focus on graphics and creating the templates for these new WordPress site. I do have help with the Houston Fest project. Eddie Day, a guitar picker who was a friend of Houston’s is volunteering to do the graphics on the website. That will be awesome. SO many people have turned out to volunteer to get Houston Fest going. He sure was a well loved and highly regarded 18 year old young man.
do blondes have more fun?
Well I am sitting here with tin foil in my hair, head stuck under a steam helmet. Do I take care of my hair so I appear more put together and business-like? Do I wait for two hours for such beauty treatment for professional image-or is it to catch the eye of the male of my species? Lol. Well maybe both. In the context of this post I am polishing my professional image as well as recommending another business. The girls at Raffles in Mayberry Mall in Mount Airy are awesome. Drop in and spruce up your own image!
On the flip side, I’ve been brunette for far too long and decided to go blonde again. Not getting my mani/pedi today. Going to wait till next week for that. I highly recommend the nail place beside of Raffles. Those guys are awesome.
Ok well time to go. This morning I practically finished http://terriajudge.com. Also worked on a menu for a new restaurant coming into Galax. Also did some more work on the Blue Ridge Host brochure. It’s almost finished! Speaking of the Real Estate Website development project for Terria, I am even more super pleased with WordPress. Developers have created Real Estate plugins..on Terria’s page, I have added in a whole section with mortgage calculators, interest rate reports and more, plus I have added in a plugin that manages her listings. It has specific areas to list the price, mls, bedroom and bathroom counts, acreage, address and I can even plugin a google map to map the address. WordPress is so easy to use, and still its value runs so deep. It seems for any business, there are plugins that help increase the usability of the website. And even with customizing graphics and adding in content, I can put together a website so much faster than when I used to hand code my own, that I can charge much less for my services than I used to. A site like http://terriajudge.com used to bill for about $1200, now I only charge $600. Just got through designing an awesome WordPress layout for Vicky and Stephen who are moving here from Kansas!! Don’t have it up yet because the domain has not propigated, but tomorrow, check out Haven Farm.

Busy weekend at Trinkle Mansion B&B
Just got back from Wytheville, VA. Met with Patti, who owns the Trinkle Mansion Bed and Breakfast there. We will be converting her existing website from straight HTML to the wordpress platform. She practiced a wordpress post here on my website this morning. Uploaded the picture here and wrote:
“Full house this weekend and just getting started on laundry and readying rooms for tonight’s guests.”
She agreed wordpress is quite an easy backend management solution to her website needs. I’ll teach her how to do lots of other “stuff” so she can make quick updates to her site at any time, but the graphics she has at her existing http://trinklemansion.com can stay about the same. I’ll rearrange a few things and set her site up to look pretty much the same. Exciting stuff getting websites converted to wordpress! So easy to manage!
back in the saddle
Well I am done with my camping weekend and back to work. It was so much fun, I didn’t want it to end. Spent the day yesterday with Dr Jude at The Wellness Cottage. Y’all check out my personal health and weight-loss/wellness blog on her site at The Chocolate Moose Blog.
She has started me on a new weight loss progam that is very strict. We’ll see if I can do it. I don’t do strict very well. LOL. But I’ll talk about that over there!
This week I am adding a new rental listing to the Doe Run Lodging website. And then designing a rack card with the owners of the cabin rental tomorrow morning. Yay! New Rack cards! New Rentals. Love it!
Will also be finishing up the web project for Frank at Rockwood Manor.
Not to mention I have to get somewhere with that Blue Ridge Host Brochure, because my mother, who is sitting here beside me at Chestnut Creek Coffee House in downtown Galax finally adding content to her site, Penelope’s Art, is ready for me to get started on the reincarnation of The Big Blue, which we are calling the Mountain Traveler’s Journal. So much to do so little time to do it in.
new website started
Today I finished up the rack card for Wolf Creek Haven a primitive camping retreat in Ararat VA. We got started on the website as far as design discussion and name registration and installation of wordpress was concerned. Not bad for a days work. Will post again when I get the graphics finished.
